Fox has decided to aim a missile directly at heart of ABC's young comedy hit "Modern Family."

The network Friday confirmed that it will move new drama "Human Target" from its originally announced 9 p.m. Wednesday time slot to 8 p.m. Wednesdays. Its replacement: The "American Idol" results show, which had been set to air at 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

"Target" will still get some exposure behind "Idol" for one week, with the Jan. 20 episode airing at 9. But starting Jan. 27, it'll be "Target" at 8 and "Idol" at 9.

The move isn't really a surprise. Fox has often played with the "Idol" results show scheduling, sometimes airing it at 8 and sometimes at 9. What's more, "Target" is a broad-skewing show and could be able to open the night opposite relatively weak competition.

Still, the shift could make it tougher for "Modern Family" -- which is produced by Fox sibling 20th Century Fox TV-- to gain momentum in the winter. The same is true for ABC's "Cougar Town," which now must also face off against the "Idol" behemoth.

Sigourney Weaver has revealed that in her next film she is to play the lover of an actor little more than half her age. In Cedar Rapids, Weaver, 60, is cast opposite comic actor Ed Helms in the role of her 35-year-old former pupil. The actress said last week that she believes relationships between older women and much younger men are much more common than film producers believe. "I play his grade-school science teacher that he had a crush on," she explained last week. "Years later, we consummate our relationship and are going out, but I have to break it off because he's so serious about me."

the guardian thinks there's a trend )

I don't care about the politics of it all (in real life aren't young women-old men pairings more common too? And Keanu Reeves going for Diane Keaton was creepy) but I do want to see good actresses in interesting roles beyond their hollywood use-by dates.

Basketball legend Charles Barkley will return to host "Saturday Night Live," 16 years after his last hosting duties. He will host the first episode after the holiday hiatus, January 9th. The musical guest will be Alicia Keys. The last musical guest to share an episode with Barkley? Nirvana, back on Sept. 25, 1993.

Check out this video of Charles Barkley shooting promos for the episode with Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and the late Kurt Cobain: Source Source I'm having 90s nostalgia this weekend and it was so freaky to watch Nirvana in the video. Anyone remember the days of the Dream Team? I remember Charles Barkley making up his own lyrics to the Michael Jordan Gatorade commercial "I wanna be, I wanna be like Chuck." I wish I could find a video of that.

In a year when meaty roles for women were hard to find, The Hollywood Reporter's Matthew Belloni and Stephen Galloway gathered six top actresses -- Emily Blunt ("The Young Victoria"); Patricia Clarkson ("Whatever Works"); Vera Farmiga ("Up in the Air"); Mo'Nique ("Precious"); Carey Mulligan ("An Education"); and Robin Wright ("The Private Lives of Pippa Lee") -- who not only landed the parts but delivered awards caliber performances.

AUSTRALIA'S Next Top Model winner Tahnee Atkinson shows off her enviable curves in jeans queen Bettina Liano's sexy new ad campaign.
Atkinson, 17, is the face - and behind - of Liano's new Curvy Fit jeans, a range designed to give girls more room in the thigh and hip area.

Liano said she picked Atkinson for the campaign because of her womanly figure.

"It has nothing to do with being fat or skinny, it's about the shape of the body, not the size," Liano said.

"Consequently when looking for a model we wanted someone young that projected sex appeal and most importantly had some curve."

Atkinson's agent Priscilla Leighton-Clark said the young fashion plate was getting plenty of work offers although was not rushing into jobs.

"We have been very selective with Tahnee since she won Australia's Next Top Model," Leighton-Clarke said. "She has a very bright future and people just fall in love with her when they work with her.

"She just has the most beautiful body."

Miley Cyrus and Noah Cyrus are creating a stir over a performance of Akon's "Smack That." In the video below, Miley Cyrus' 9 year old sister Noah is seen singing a clip from the song while the elder Cyrus and a group of friends encourage her to keep going.

Noah Cyrus' voice has recently been featured in the cartoon "Ponyo" which is about a goldfish princess who wants to be human and is granted her wish.

Some parents of Miley and Noah Cyrus fans are outraged over the 9 year old's racy performance. Parents were also outraged in October when the young girl dressed as a dominatrix for Halloween. Some parents don't want their young daughters growing up too fast.

An E! Online columnist said "We're forced to question [parents] Billy Ray and Tish's judgment."

Perhaps the young girl was just trying to show off for her older sister and her friends. Then again, this young girl could be showing signs that she's growing up too fast.

Thom Yorke Crashes Copenhagen Climate Summit

A few months ago, we saw Thom Yorke perform at the premiere of the global warming docudrama The Age Of Stupid. Well, "at the premiere" via Skype - compelled not by laziness, but by his growing obsession with carbon footprint curbing, the same fixation that has and undoubtedly will severely impact Radiohead's touring plans. (At the very least, don't expect them to lease The Claw anytime soon.) A close friend/green activist attended that same film premiere as part of a troupe bike-powering the red carpet arrivals (pedaling to create electricity), and said Yorke's presence was riveting, if not galvanizing, even via Wi-Fi: the man's not claiming sainthood by word or deed, but his dedication to transforming consciousness about what Thomas Friedman's rebranded "global weirding" is at the very least humbly sincere, if not admirably inspiring.

Also admirable and inspiring: Crashing the Copehnagen climate summit by gaining access as a "journalist." The gist: Yorke got tired of reading blogs to try and make sense of insensible developments, like NGOs being thrown out of discussions, treating carbon emission cuts as negotiables, the fear that a lack of meaningful change would be presented to the world as progress and endless et ceteras ... so he just straight-up stole his way into the summit on a journalist's pass ("you imagine they'd let me in here otherwise?"), wherefrom he's blogged and showed up in some YouTubes. Enjoy the awesome:

Climate summit fails, Thom Yorke continues being awesome despite world on brink of environmental collapse. Bolded for tl;dr crowd. )

climate sauce

I know this is technically more ontd-political, but it IS about a celebrity doing something marginally admirable for once, and ONTD did cover his Age of Stupid appearance...</a>

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has arrived home in Australia for a well-earned Christmas break. The singer was met at Melbourne Airport by her boyfriend Kris Smith for a family Christmas holiday. The 38-year-old has admitted that she feels "more relaxed" and happy this year. She told Heat Magazine: "This year has been full of happiness in so many ways. "First of all my lovely man, Kris. He's been my rock and has given my life so much joy. "Family is all well, and work is fun again." She added: "Rachel [Adedeji], Stacey [Solomon] and Lucie [Jones] have filled my days with warmth, too. "All of those things put a smile on my dial." It has been reported that this may be Dannii's last year on the X Factor as she still has not renewed her contract with Simon Cowell and plans to start a family with Kris. Minogue admitted that she was unhappy with having her seat on the judging panel moved as she was told to swap seats with Louis Walsh. She told the magazine: "I still have no idea why I was told to change seats. I was told four different reasons by four different people, who all said it was the other person's decision." She added: "I like watching people play "pass the buck". I actually thought I might be judging from the side of the stage at one point." Discussing the controversy that surrounded her acts Lucie Jones being eliminated over John and Edward, Danni said: "Next year, we need five judges and a fifth category, adding Novelty Act, which maybe Simon could mentor!"
